We hope the Congress will be a place for mutual learning: how do cultural assumptions develop and how can actively working with them transform social tensions? From a global perspective, there is no ‘us’ and ‘them’. We live in one world. The congress will offer key-note speakers, symposia, seminars, workshops and research presentations and participatory research.

Our theme is generated by the rising turbulence in our world. Challenging poverty and unequal power relationships, finding security, maintaining democracy, health, human rights, equality and peace, all rely on the life-maintaining resilience of the biosphere to provide us with the basic conditions for maintaining the dignity of human relationships. There is no business on a dead planet! Key to the well-being of any system – an individual, family, organisation or society is the acceptance of diversity, differentiation, linkage and integration.
